What is Reiki? You’ve heard people talk about it or maybe even experienced it? Why do they rave about it? How do the changes they have happen? How does it help you?
Firstly my background – I discovered Reiki about 16 years ago when I lost tow grandmothers within a week and was devastated. I was recommended Reiki and once I’d received my first session, I was hooked and signed up to learn more. I progressed quickly to become a Master-Teacher and have been sharing Reiki experiences with people for well over 12 years now! I’ve used it to help support me through miscarriages, emotional moments, physical ailments, Not a day goes by when I don’t feel the healing, positive power of Reiki on myself. It really is a life changer!
Reiki Healing Treatments
Reiki – Means “universal life energy”. Reiki is a hands-on healing therapy, transferring energy from the therapist to client. It works on mind, body & spirit levels and is extremely powerful, stimulating the body’s own healing capacity.
During the treatment the client will remain fully clothed and lie on a massage couch. The practitioner’s hands will be placed in Reiki positions down the front and then the back of the client. The client will often feel heat and tingling during the session as the energy passes into the body to help heal and relax. the positions are related to the energy points, known as chakras, of the body.
Benefits of Reiki
Reiki can help with a wide range of physical and emotional conditions and can bring balance into a person’s life. Reiki is holistic in that it works on a deep and profound level, healing body mind and spirit. Unlike other therapeutic bodywork systems, Reiki involves a powerful and concentrated form of energy. Reiki is something which has to be experienced and is often impossible to describe clearly in words.
How does it Work?
The Reiki practitioner is not the provider of the energy healing. They are the conduit or cable through which the energy flows. Reiki means universal life force energy and the practitioner taps into this energy and it simply flows through them to the client. Then the Reiki does what the client is ready to receive. So it will allow the body space and time to heal or for hurt past emotions or worries to be melted away. Reiki will only release what the client is ready to release, so there’s no “trauma” or feeling of overwhelm. This is why regular sessions are good as they build on the release and healing each session. It may take a few for the client to feel safe and relaxed and ready to release their blocks and allow space for their body to move to wellness.
Reiki can help:
• Induce a state of deep relaxation

Other types of Reiki
There are lots of different types of Reiki. I myself practice Usui Reiki (a Tibetan reiki) and also Tera Mai Seichem Reiki. There isalso angelic reiki and many other types. Labrys Ascension Therapy is also a form of Reiki.
Choose the Reiki format that appeals to you. or of the practitioner that feel right. Have an open mind. As a practitioner my mantra at the start is “allow whatever the client needs to flow”.
Usui reiki is a very “earthy” healing energy, whereas Seichem reiki has a more balanced energy. four elemental healing rays. These are Reiki (earth), Sophiel (water), Angelic Light (air and spirit) and Sakara (fire). These rays work individually or together, depending on the needs of the recipient. It promotes and accelerates the healing process while providing deep relaxation which helps with stress.
During the treatment the client will remain fully clothed and lie on a massage couch. The therapist’s hands will be placed in reiki positions down the front and then the back of the client. The client will often feel heat or air wafting across them during the session as the energy passes into the body to help heal and relax.
What to do next?
If you are interested in knowing more or discussing how Reiki can help your situation or ailment the please contact me. I am happy to discuss possible benefits specific to your requirements. As each person’s circumstances and bodies are individual, a specific treatment plan will be devised for you. A Reiki treatment session lasts approximately 45 minutes, although the first one will be slightly longer as information and a short history will be taken. Costs for a Reiki treatment start at £45. It is generally acknowledged that initially six weekly sessions are taken, as this gives the body the boost it needs to “get going” and the client will usually notice improvements by this time. After this the client can choose a frequency which suits them and their requirements, regularity is key to maintain any benefits.
Alternatively why not empower yourself to be able to do this tool yourself! Come and learn Reiki through what we call “attunements”. This is basically plugging you into the universal energy system of Reiki. Email me for more details on learning Reiki for your own benefits and even to become a practitioner.
